Pressing flowers
You can buy a flower press from a hobby store. Or you can do it the old way using a phone book
(or some other big heavy books). First carefully place the flower heads and leaves between two sheets of
white absorbent paper. Make sure straighten out any folds or creases and do not let
any of the pedals or leaves accidentally folded over. Then insert the papers into the phone book carefully.
After you have done that to all your flowers, close the phone book by gently rolling its pages over the
precious contents. Then put some heavy objects on top of the book. In the first 2 or 3 days do not
open the book to check how it goes.
If you use a flower press, place a piece of cardboard on top of each piece of paper and on the flowers.
Tighten the bolts on the flower press until the wing nuts are nearly impossible
to tighten further.
Keep the phone book or the flower press in a dry place with plenty of
air circulation.
